Home for Thanksgiving!!

It's SO wonderful to be home again.  A good trip this afternoon.  Made pretty good time & arrive here late this evening.  I love traveling...meeting new people...reconnecting with long-time friends & acquaintances...staying with family & helping out...  But I truly LOVE coming home again!

I pray that each of you is blessed tomorrow & have a wonderful Thanksgiving with people you care about & who care about you!  May you sense the touch of Jesus enriching your life throughout the entire day.  We have so many things to be thankful for when we take time to start counting, don't we?

Headin' to Woodward, OK today...

We've been enjoying revival this week with Paul Eversole. Today, I'm heading up to Woodward, OK, to help with music this weekend. They've been in revival this week with Andy Buege.

Woodward always has a big push for visitors on the first Sun. of each month with a potluck dinner following the morning service. It's always exciting to see who all the Lord helps make it out to that service. I a...
lways love being in Woodward for the First Sunday.

This will be my first time back to Woodward since my brother, Doug Shields, his wife & youngest, Ramona & Amanda, went back to serve in PNG. I'm gonna miss them! Doug & Ramona's eldest, Lynnette, & her husband, Ray Perry, pastor there at this time. I'm gonna enjoy hanging out with them & their little one, Samuel, who's growing so fast. Charla & Dougie are also there, so it'll be a kind-of mini-family reunion. I really enjoy hanging out with my nieces & nephews!

My piano will go in the shop while I'm gone. They told me their turn-around time in repair is 6 wks. I'll be excited to be able to start recording!

Good news...sad news...Oct. 29

Daddy & I got the new contact strip installed in my Yamaha Clavinova. Got everything put back together. But...the "dead" notes are still dead, & a few notes are making 2 tones instead of 1 when I play the key. So...back to the drawing board...I think Daddy & I are going to take it all apart again this week (since we know how now) & see if we can do a couple of things a ...
little more carefully that might (I wish they would!) make everything play correctly, even the "dead" notes.

It looks like I might not get to start recording "Sunday Evening Praise" until late Dec., maybe not until late Feb. when I get back from Tamika's baby girl, Emily, being born. I'm really looking forward to getting this project recorded as well as my 1st (non-Christmas) love song project, "With Love... [the current working title] plus "Campmeeting Days", the cd project that I'll be recording all those good, old songs from the "Glorious Freedom" paperback songbooks we used for campmeeting when I was growing up.

My Yamaha Clavinova is getting a "face"-lift!!

Daddy helped me take apart my Yamaha Clavinova last night, so I could replace the rubber contact strip that lies under the keys. Some of the keys in the lower 2 1/2 octaves of the keyboard haven't been playing...or sporadically playing. All the keys must play in order for me to record the new CDs that are racing around inside my brain!

Just saw that I have a UPS tracking number & shipping con...
firmation email from Yamaha...that means I should have the strip by tomorrow!! Now I can start recording my next CD, "Sunday Evening Praise...Remember the Sabbath series Vol. 3". This is the final volume in this series.

Vol. 1--Sunday Morning Worship [available for purchase]
Vol. 2--Christmas Hymns [available for purchase]
Vol. 3--Sunday Evening Praise [possibly available by mid-Dec.]

A slight delay in CD release...

Well...I DID pick up my new CD this morning in Orlando before flying out this afternoon to AL. However, after leaving Bison, who does my CDs for me, Esther & I were listening to the CD in her car & noticed something that needs fixing. So...after a quick call back to Michelle at the office, the new, corrected version of "WALKING WITH JESUS" should be available in the next few days. You can still order, & I'll still mail your copy(ies) as soon as they're in my hand.

Wanted all you who've already ordered to know, tho, that I won't be able to mail your CDs tomorrow as promised. I'll keep ya'll up-to-date right here as well as on my no-membership-required Facebook ministry website.

"Walking with Jesus"...an on-going project!

I've been working on my new CD, "Walking with Jesus", for several weeks.  This week, my last at home in TX in what will be over a month, I've worked almost day and night to get this CD sent off for publishing!  I leave tomorrow morning for TN & parts beyond in the East and Southeast, so it won't be as easy to finish up this project.  So...I'm asking the Lord to prevent any more technology & software glitches, those things that prolong the length of a project for me so many times.

I'm looking forward to having "Walking with Jesus" available for all of you...especially you walkers!  This CD is at a tempo of 2 mph, so you can listen to this familiar music while you walk, exercise, clean house, mow the lawn....  It should be complete & available for purchase in 2 or 3 weeks.  I'll be letting you know via this blog as well as my ministry Facebook public page.

I'm finally home again!

I'm finally back home in TX tonight after being gone since the first of June!  Appreciated the Duncan BMC campmeeting in early June.  Went straight from camp to Woodward, OK with my brother, Doug's, family.  Got to help my niece, Amanda, finish up World Literature.  They'll be leaving soon for Papua New Guinea (PNG), so I'm glad I got to help out as well as enjoy being with their family.  I also had the joy of babysitting my great-nephew, Samuel Perry!  He's 7 months old now & learning something new, it seems, every day.  Well, I'm gonna sit back, relax & enjoy being at home for a couple or so weeks before I head out again!  Blessings on all!

A Scare with Daddy's Heart!

We had a high blood pressure scare yesterday with Daddy while he was at work. He was able to see his heart dr today who added some meds, made some changes, ran an EKG. Daddy'll have a stress test tomorrow morning early. I've been askin' the Lord to keep Daddy's heart goin'. I'm not ready to lose my daddy... actually, I'll NEVER be ready to lose him.

My heart goes out to those of you who've already lost your dads. I know this month with Father's Day must be very hard. May God hold you!

Illinois, Iowa...now Home in Texas!

Headed to Illinois on a road trip with my nieces & nephew-in-law on Monday evening, May 14.  Stayed for a few days in Mt. Vernon, IL, then headed to Rock Island, IL for my niece, Linda (McCasland) Harner's, graduation from BMI.  I'm so proud of her!

Was privileged to stay for several for much of 2 weeks with my dear friends, the Pettits: Larry, Liz & Missy...& Roxie, their little dog!  We had great times visiting, attending services at the church they pastor in Davenport, IA.  Enjoyed delicious meals, shopping with "the girls" (Liz & Missy), "tours" of Davenport where we got to stop for awhile by the Mississippi River locks, listened to children's stories with Missy, had some delicious treats at some local fast food stops, toured the assisted care facility where Missy works & met some of her favorite friends there...& lots more memories we made together.  Thanks, Pettits, for once again hosting me.  I always thoroughly enjoy visiting ya'll!

Got to be parts of 3 days with my niece, Mary Lauritzen, and her family in Monmouth, IL.  Their daughter, Emily, graduated from high school in a lovely ceremony at the church they pastor there.  Then their oldest, Abigail, was married the day after the graduation.  It was my honor to play for both occasions & get to help some with the preparations for each.  We had a great time together!

I was booked to fly American Airlines home to Texas this past Wednesday, May 30.  I found out after I got to the airport that the flights to Dallas were cancelled due to bad weather.  The airline rescheduled me to fly the next day, Thursday, so Liz Pettit & I ended up spending a "sister-chicks" day together.  We ate lunch at Olive Garden then shopped all afternoon.  It was so much fun!!  I got to attend their Wednesday night prayer meeting, so that was a great benefit of getting delayed.  We got "free" pie at Village Inn after the service.  A pretty great Wednesday night bargain the restaurant runs...free slice of pie with any purchase.  It was one of our several spontaneous "excursions" while I stayed with Pettits.

My flights were great yesterday, Thursday.  Please pray for Tyler, a soldier boy I sat by from Dallas to Lubbock.  He's stationed at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, NM.  He & 9 other soldiers (special ops commandos...according to the big banner in Lubbock airport welcoming them home) were on my flight.  Their wives & sweethearts were at the airport en masse to welcome them home from a mission.  I thanked Tyler for serving our country to keep us free & told him I'd be praying for him & ask my church to pray for him, too.  If Tyler comes to your mind, please lift him to the Lord in prayer.  Who knows what his needs are, but Jesus knows them all & God does answer prayer!

It's good to be home now for awhile.  I'm glad to get to visit with my parents when they're home from work.  It's a privilege to have a home with my parents!

I'll be posting some photos from my trip in the next few days.  Be on the outlook for those.  Also, although I tried several different ways to be able to work on & complete my new recording, "Walking with Jesus", while on this trip, nothing worked out.  So...please be praying for me throughout this next week that the Lord will quicken my mind, that all the technology involved will work properly, & that I'll have "Walking with Jesus" sent off to the manufacturers by next Friday.

Surgery update for Samuel

I'm at the OU Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City with Samuel & Lynnette. Samuel did very well in surgery & has done well since coming out of recovery. The doctors drained 3 oz. or so of pus from the large lump, leaving a drain in that will probably stay in for 2 or 3 days. He was very alert when they brought him back to his room. Was able to drink Pedialyte right away & then some formula. He seems to have some pain, but he's been relatively content & happy, even smiling & "talking" to us & the nurses. He'll be in the hospital until the drs are certain the infection is gone. Thanks for still praying!

Late Sat. nite update on Samuel

Update on SAMUEL PERRY (my 5-mo-old nephew):

Thanks to all of you who are asking about Samuel & praying for him. We found out today that the bacteria he has is VRE. That is a group of bacterial species of the genus Enterococcus that is resistant to the antibiotic vancomycin. He also has a couple lumps under his chin, one oozing, that the doctors don't yet know what they are. They might be doin...
g a CT scan tonight. Other than that, at this point, the drs are planning to wait for any further action on the lumps until after the weekend. Surgery might be indicated, according to at least one dr.

Keep praying. And, thanks from Samuel's mama & daddy, Ray & Lynnette Perry, as well as all of us family who love Samuel so much!

Please pray for my great-nephew, SAMUEL PERRY!

PLEASE PRAY FOR MY GREAT-NEPHEW, SAMUEL PERRY!! At this moment, he & his mom, Lynnette (Shields) Perry [my brother, Doug's oldest girl & baby], are in an ambulance transferring Samuel from Woodward, OK hospital to Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City. He has a raging infection & some other symptoms that aren't responding to the antibiotics they've been giving him the past couple days in the Woodward hospital. Please help us pray that God will work a miracle & heal this baby!

Kathy's Blog on Northwest Nazarene University Wesley website

For almost 10 years now, Holiness Data Ministry, a ministry of Duane & Dorothea Maxey, has been a supporter of my music ministry.  They have invested heavily into my ministry & have been used mightily of the Lord to promote & encourage my music.  I deeply appreciate all they have done over the years.

Just in the past few days, Duane has been able to request & receive confirmation that The Wesley Center Online of Northwest Nazarene University (NNU) in Nampa, ID has put a link on their website for my ministry, Daystar Music Ministries.  Please take time to check out this link.  While there, take time to get informed about all the resources available on this wonderful website.

Thank you, Duane!  Thank you, NNU Wesley Center!

Happy Easter!

Today was a wonderful Easter for me!  My pastor (also my brother-in-law, Roger McCasland) had a different kind of service planned this morning.  He read Scriptures & gave little mini-sermons in-between having the congregation sing different songs in our hymnals relating to Jesus' death & resurrection.  Roger & Christine, my sister, sang a beautiful song at the end of the service: "I Don't Need to Understand".  We were blessed to have several people from our community in our service this morning.  I hope each of you were blessed as well today in your own churches.

A side note:  this past week, I noticed from Kathy Herman's post (she's an incredible author) about Texas bluebonnets, that the flowers I'd picked behind our garage & made into a small kitchen bouquet are also bluebonnets.  They were so pretty that I just had to bring them in for a bouquet, but I didn't know what they were called.  Enjoy the picture of just a few bluebonnets.  At this time of year, I think there are places in Texas (where they get more moisture) that have fields & fields of bluebonnets.  Maybe some of you have seen them!

Again...a blessed & happy Easter to you all!

LLL...Lubbock Ladies Luncheon

In late March, we had a Ladies Luncheon for our church at my niece, Linda  (McCasland) Harner's, home in Lubbock, TX.  Linda, my sister, Christine McCasland, & I organized the event & really enjoyed making it happen.

Each lady brought an ingredient for tacos.  Wow, did the ladies ever deliver!!  We enjoyed a wonderful lunch when the ladies first arrived.  Next, I gave a short lesson on "Seeds of Kindness".  I found a wonderful website as an excellent source of material for women's ministries.  Check out this website...http://www.juliabettencourt.com.

We ended our time together by making our own planters to take home.  Just a simple tin planter from Dollar Tree, some stones in the bottom of the planter, then potting soil & a plant.  Everyone enjoyed this, & it was really nice to take something home to remind us of our time together.

Infected Computers & New CDs!

Have spent the past 3 days on the phone with Microsoft security techs, working to get Mama's computer fixed.  I think it's finally fixed...with just 1 or 2 little things I need to adjust.  Thankful to have this big job done.

Now I can get back to working on my new CD, "Walking with Jesus".  We're past the March 30 deadline I'd hoped to meet, but it's looking very promising for the 1st week of May.

Appreciate prayers that all my technology will work the way it's supposed to, & finishing up this album will be easy.

Hope your Palm Sunday was blessed!

I had a wonderful day at our church in Lubbock...good services, good preaching by my brother-in-law, Roger McCasland.  It was very nice to have Great-Grandpa Mac & Dale McCasland visiting today.  I trust all of you had wonderful, worshipful Sunday today!

Footsteps in the Shadows w/lyrics

For my friend, Ann Baldwin

I recorded this especially for my friend, Ann Baldwin, who recently lost her husband, Rev. Frank Baldwin.  She used to sing this song, & I enjoyed being able to accompany her on occasion.

For the rest of you, my friends & family, who listen to this song, please know I pray that you'll be comforted, uplifted & reminded that God wants to love us more than we've ever wanted to be loved!

I didn't take time to "fine-tune" this recording but send it out straight from my heart.

Home at Last!

Well, I'm finally home...been gone since Jan. 6!  I helped my niece, Amanda Shields (my brother, Doug's youngest), get through Algebra I in January.  Then, Amanda & I hit the road for Missouri.

I played a concert on Jan. 29 at the Wichita, KS Bible Holiness Church (pastor, Curtis Gordon).  It was a privilege to meet new friends & to play to such an interactive audience.  I was truly blessed to play & speak, then to fellowship afterwards with some really delicious food & great conversation.  As is so common with the children of God, I discovered several connections with some of the people there...friends of friends, etc.  Several Gideon "buddies" of David Moore attended, & it was delightful to get acquainted with these dear ones.

Thank you, Bro. & Sis. Gordon & Wichita Bible Holiness Church, for having me come to your church!  You were a delight to be with, & I look forward to being with you again sometime!

Going on to Dexter, MO, where my niece, Lynnette (& Ray) Perry [Doug's oldest], has been living, we were able to stop off in Altamont, KS to see dear childhood friends of my family I hadn't seen since the early 80's--Bob & Peggy Cunningham.  What a joy it was to visit with them & try to get caught up on each others' families.  I got to see their lovely home and their church with the beautiful sanctuary.  Thank you, Bob & Peggy, for lunch at the local cafe in Altamont.  It was Peggy's 70th birthday, so I told her maybe I was her birthday present!  It was hard to tear away so we could get to Dexter.  What a treat!

I so enjoyed playing nanny to baby Samuel (2 months) & chief cook & bottle washer (literally!!) at Ray & Lynnette's.  That left Lynnette & Amanda free to pack.  After almost 3 years as pastors at the Dexter, MO BMC, Ray & Lynnette are feeling led to other pursuits, so Amanda & I were happy to get to help get them ready to move.  I'll be posting photos of Samuel, my little buddy, very soon.  He is such a sweetie.  Even in the middle of the night, when he was ready for his bottle & I would be changing his diaper, he'd grin at me & coo & goo in the candlelight I left on during the night.  He was just as happy as could be.  It's truly great to have incredible nieces & nephews, & it's extra great to start having more & more great-nieces & nephews!

After I got back to Woodward last week before coming on home yesterday, we had another baby added to our Shields clan...B2, Ashley & B3 added a sweet little girl to their family on Feb. 9!  I'll have to double-check the spelling of her name & post it for ya'll.  Plus some photos.  She's a cutie!

So now...I'm home at last, & today's my daddy's 72nd birthday!  Tomorrow's my brother, Bryan's, 51st birthday.  He's been doing some work in Woodward, OK, so he drove down with me yesterday evening, & we're celebrating both the guys' birthdays together today...just like when we were growing up!

Be on the lookout for new CDs in the next few weeks.  I have one album just about ready to publish & will be doing final editing on it next week plus starting recording of "Sunday Evening Praise" as well.  These CDs should be available in 6-10 weeks.  I'll be sure to let you know as soon as you can start ordering CDs.

I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day yesterday.  If you have absolutely NO one who truly loves you on this earth, you can be assured God loves you completely & His love never, ever fails!

God WANTS to Hear YOU Sing! For Doug & Teen

This song, "God Wants to Hear You Sing", by Rodney Griffin (of Greater Vision), is a tangible sign of my love & care about my siblings & their spouses (Christine & Roger McCasland, Doug & Ramona Shields) as well as their brother-in-law & wife, their children & their parents-in-law. Cecil (& Ellen) McCasland, their father-in-law, has been told by his drs that he's living his last days.

The words to this song are an incredible message to "sing" even in the Valley of the Shadow of Death. May each of you who bear a heavy load today take courage & let God "hear you sing"! [

Disclaimer: This video is a raw, 1st-run version with no editing.]

Has any of Kathy's music blessed you?

If any of my music has blessed you sometime in the past...either via my CDs or at a concert or service...feel free to leave a comment below telling how you feel.  God gets absolutely ALL the glory if any of you have been helped, blessed, encouraged, uplifted in any way by my music!  I give Him praise & thank you for taking time to share from your heart!
